Teaching Global Governance this fall, International Politics in the Winter, and North-South in the Spring. Global Governance persists despite the rise of disinterested autocratic states and the growing prevalence of war. North-South Relations is entirely transformed with the growth of highly industrialized economies in the Global South and the arrival of global multipolarity, which includes an extremely powerful non-western state. The idea of north versus south has become very complex. Continuing to work on issues of global sexuality and human rights, also US Foreign Policy and the idea of a 'hegemonic hangover.' Difficult to address issues of human rights in an era of so much 'official' support and 'unofficial' backtracking on global policies. At the same time, overall progress continues. Thailand, for example, just moved forward with a gay marriage bill! The popular belief in America, by both the right and the left, that the US can get most states to do what 'it wants' (hegemonic hangover), reflects a desire on our part to ignore the challenge the current international system poses and the fact the two other states can now block or derail our own national interests.
