Ngonidzashe Munemo
Prof. Munemo has a Ph.D. from Colombia and a B.A. from Bard. He specializes in comparative politics, with a focus on contemporary African politics. His current book project,Incumbency and Relief in Africa, examines what happens when drought induces a crisis in provisioning. Specifically, the book explains why some African governments adopt drought relief policies that are heavily reliant on free food aid, while other governments opt for labor-based relief to protect citizens from dearth. The book develops a political framework that sheds light on the distinctive micro-political imperatives that lead some incumbents to choose food aid over labor-based relief.
